The GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP), and in particular its prize, provides funding and access to experts around the world that enable winning technologies to address global challenges while improving people’s lives. Through catalytic funding for scaling solutions and connections with experts from different fields, winners receive catalytic funding in order to expand them further and accelerate impactful work. It is funded by Singapore.
The third edition of the Singapore History Prize, an biennial literary award that recognises non-fiction books on Singaporean heritage and culture, has produced two winners. A total of 26 submissions were received this year and judges issued two special commendations without cash awards; these are Lynn Wong and Lee Kok Leong’s Reviving Qixi: Singapore’s Forgotten Seven Sisters Festival and Theatres of Memory: Industrial Heritage Of 20th Century Singapore by Loh Kah Seng, Alex Tan, Tan Teng Phee and Juria Toramae respectively.
Earthshot Prize, an ambitious global initiative established by Prince William in 2020, recognized 15 winning innovations at its third awards ceremony held in Singapore last Friday. These solutions address some of the planet’s greatest environmental perils while also shining a light on solutions already implemented.
