The HK Prize for Education Development

The HK Prize is an annual competition designed to recognize outstanding students in the Department of History at University of Hong Kong. This competition seeks to promote Hong Kong’s rich cultural heritage as a source of strength in global society, while encouraging academic research in this area of studies.

War Child Alliance’s Mark Jordans and Luke Stannard received Monday the Hong Kong Prize for Education Development as its recipients, and will receive both money and a trophy as rewards for their efforts in creating evidence-based support systems in conflict-affected regions of the globe.

George B. Endacott was a Lecturer of History (1946-57 and 1957-62) who made an invaluable contribution to re-establishing it as one of the principal teaching and research units within the Faculty of Arts. This prize honors his dedication to researching Hong Kong history as well as that of wider Asia.

Noormah Jamal’s acrylic-on-canvas painting Did the Seed Grow? by Noormah Jamal features figures with blank faces seated against a brick wall, setting a record high for this prize.

This award recognizes excellent research in East Asian planning history published in English (preferably single-authored but first authorship is acceptable) within two calendar years before an IPHS Conference and published in an academic journal (not conference proceedings) by an author who was 45 or under at time of publication.

At this week’s LIV Golf Hong Kong 2025 are several past champions and notable international names, such as Sergio Garcia. After his victory at last year’s inaugural tournament – winning first-place prize of $4 Million – Sergio is leading after rounds 72 and 71 at Hong Kong Country Club.

As in previous events in this series, this week’s winner will walk away with a cash prize of $2 Million, just like its seven predecessors. As is customary with tournaments of this nature, runners-up are guaranteed $260,000 while if no winner emerges then all winning tickets will be added to a jackpot fund for future draws; third prize amounts will be determined later; valid betting tickets must be presented for payment by 30 April for payment – more information on that can be found via its official website.
